Hi there, lovely reader
My name is Judete Fourie and I am a twenty-two-year old aspiring writer. I currently reside in the town of Stellenbosch located in the Western Cape of South Africa. A Joburg/ Pretoria-native, I have recently decided to lift up my roots and settle into the inviting soils of the Cape winelands to pursue lifestyle journalism.
Since there is always a catch-22 when it comes to having the right qualifications for a job, versus the actual job experience, I have decided to take it upon myself to create my own virtual portfolio and build up as much real-world experience as is possible. My aim with this lifestyle blog is to showcase not only some of my writing ability, but to promote my growing range of photography skills as well as my pursuit of the product-marketing and brand ambassador industry.
I have started up a Facebook Page as well as an Instagram account linking my blog to both and therefore increasing the radius of my network-- to try and capture as big and diverse an audience as possible.
Closing in on the first year of having a blog, I have discovered some of the obstacles of having to run and manage your own website, as well as other brain-teasers such as how to attract as much traffic to your site as possible. I think everyone wonders about how to get the most attention to what they are doing or trying to accomplish--whether it be to show off the amazing lunch they're having at the new bistro in the high street, or to get the word out about the newest product they think will blow everyone's minds. There's no one, straight-forward recipe for success, but I do believe that one of the core elements one needs on the (on-going) journey to success is passion. Naturally, motivation comes from this...or drives it. I think it's sort of like a symbiosis...they both help and guide each other!
I look forward to the future of this blog, and where it may lead, or what it can turn into. It is an on-going project; both personal and to (hopefully) pay the (or some of) the bills one day. The exciting part is however that, each day, inspiration may take a completely new and different form than the previous day. Today's piece might focus on a vintage clothing sale that happened in Pulp Cinema, and next week's feature may concern a fantastic life lesson learnt while standing in the queue to renew my driver's license. :) Ya ne'er know!~
